Team Summary

Sonali Saxena (Co-Founder) - Graduated from ISB Hyderabad in 2012; studied the F&B industry extensively in her stint at Zomato from 2013 - 2016; has experience in leading sales teams in Airtel and Zomato; has worked in restaurant operations in Taj Hotels.

Sharad Nair (Co-Founder) - Masters in Hospitality from University of Plymouth 2008; has launched and managed some of the best high end restaurants in Mumbai at the erstwhile Shangri La Hotel/Palladium Hotel and the Sofitel. Has also worked in the F&B industry in Dubai and the UK, which has exposed him to the latest restaurant trends globally.

Product/Service Summary

There are two aspects to our product:

B2C - On the consumer end, there is a demand for more evolved and modern casual dining options in tier 2 cities. The only available options in this segment are coffee shops like Cafe Coffee Day and Barista, which have not changed in concept over the last few years. There is also a growing demand for alcohol, and there are no casual dining places that serve alcohol, and at the same time provide an atmosphere that is conducive to families and women.

B2B - There are a number of restaurants that have full fledged facilities, but perform sub-optimally because of the absence of a distinctive product. A lot of these restaurants are a part of 3 and 4 star hotels. For these hotels, leasing out their space to us makes sense, since there is a clear improvement on their return on assets.

We have catered to both the issues mentioned above, through our brand The Laughing B (Asian Gastropub) in Jodhpur, with <10% of the typical investment & <45 days to launch.
